Green Smoothies!

Okay, so I put some water in there too, but that’s the basic idea. It may sound nasty, and it takes some getting used to (freezing the bananas helps a lot!), but in the past few months I’ve learned to enjoy green smoothies.

They are an amazing way to get one’s greens (if you eat them in a salad you’re probably not getting much of the nutrients and if you cook them you’ve lost the enzymes). I don’t even enjoy salad, so this has actually been a step up taste-wise for me.

I’d love to know if anyone has suggestions for tricky ways to get more greens in one’s diet!

Super green indeed! That glass looks rather large, also… ;) Well, I can’t knock it till I try it, so… Hope your to-do list is a success for you this week! Thanks for visiting the blog. Tomorrow is when the fun begins!

That is a TON of bananas. Also, the only experience I have with kale is that our iguanas eat them :) I can deal with salads so I’ll stay there for a while!

Thanks for travelling over to my blog. No, not weekend to remember, but the marriage retreat we went to was “The Game of Love” an annual church retreat our church puts on.

Anyway, I never eat enough greens, I might have to try this. How much kale do you put in with the bananas? Can you include a recipe? I really want to try this!

Hey Cowgirl, thanks for stopping by. I’ll see if I can get a more user-friendly how-to-ish post up soon. I use a *lot* of kale now, but highly recommend working up to it!

Thanks for stopping by my blog.

I like kale in soups. It softens up but retains its shape. I believe it is the green used in Olive Garden’s Zuppa Toscana soup. It’s got sliced sausage and potates… very good.

You might enjoy just boiling it in some chicken broth and adding lots of parmesan cheese at the end.
